Yeah, you read the title right. There is going to held an overclocking contest by the motherboard manufacturer GIGABYTE. The prizes for this contest are $2500 and $2000 for first and second place holders respectively, in addition to the cash prize both the winners will get the brand-new mobo from Gigabyte the ‘GA-X48-DQ6G’. A total of $12000 will be invested by the company in terms of cash and other prizes.Anyone who lives in the US and Canada, is of at least 18 years and has a Gigabyte mobo (X48 or P35) with an Intel’s processor can participate.

The contestants will be required to overclock the system as such that the rated clock speed should be reached and will have to make a video to capture the overclocked system performance. Judging will be done on the basis of 3DMark06 scores.

Contestants who would get failed overclocking, clearly can’t have prize and in addition to it, would get their mobo/processor or both damaged. So to ones, who would get failed and lose their mobo/processor, I have my sympathy in advance .
