The killer keyboard concept.

Who wants a typewriter to type nowadays? Nobody except some old office clerks. Today we have a keyboard by which you can type from your lap{That’s why laptops exist :) }. Everybody wants flexibility and change in their life and wants to see something new and changed every morning they wake-up. The artlebedev studio came up with an interesting keyboard idea named Maximus. And now they are here with another concept, Tactus.

Optimus Tactus is a brainchild of artlebedev’s guys and if released, will have the following features:

  • This “key“board will not have any key. Weird huh? Instead of physical keys, it will work with touch-sensitive technology.
  • One can replace any key with another, for example, if you ever wanted the space bar in place of enter key and vice versa, then now you can do that!
  • When you would get bored with typing, you could turn Tactus in a video mode. In this mode, it looks like to me that an iPhone is integrated horizontally with it.

At last, I think this will come in a price range by which one could buy a whole PC! Its basically for those rich geeks who wanna buy every hot and buzzed gadget out there.

Nice concept ! Worth a try IF it ever makes it into production ;)

Nice try but looks impractical and way to easy to make typos on that thing.

Actually, touch keyboards have been around for quite a while. Early cheaply-made home computers used “membrane keyboards” that everyone hated because there was no tactile feedback. This is the reason it’s called touch typing. Also appears to invite smudginess :( .

Everyone except me and td seem to have been blinded by this shiny keyboard, and therefore cannot see how stupid it is. Without the tactile response of true keys, touch typing is very hard. It makes me wonder why they’ve named it the “tactus”

    I agree wholeheartedly with RiR.

Without the tactile feedback, it’s trash. No thank you.
