Backup Your Files Online With Just A Click!
As we surf the web, we collect stuff like softwares, E-books, movies, songs etc. But besides collecting all these, we should also perform a backup time to time. Those who have DVD-Writer or some other medium of backup, may have a no problem doing so, and they should not worry about their rainy days. But people like me who do not have such devices could do nothing other than making weird faces and doing whole re-installation of windows, and then installing all of their stuff again and again.
Thanks to the big competitors of the web industry that nowadays we have HUGE online storage spaces in the form of E-mail inbox {who says competition is not fruitful at the end
}. So why not use it for backup purposes and save yourself from that big disaster?
After reading this, you may say that some old plugins for saving files on Gmail are already here, and you will be right in saying so but the one I am currently mentioning is a bit different and what makes it so is its ease of use. With just a single click, your file will be on its way to your inbox.
With this method, you can rescue some of your very-important files and let others to stay where they are {just like what they did in Titanic :D}. But at least, you are saving your critical data! The little tool for accomplishing this goal is named “Backup to Email” Which I found on SourceForge. After Installing this open source tool, all you have to do is to right-click on any file, folder or archive and select ‘Backup To Email’ and it will do the rest for you. Although the new Gmail attachment limit is 20 MB, it only sends a file of less than 10 MB otherwise it will split the file into pieces and you can join them afterwards with the option given in this tool.
However, you can save the files in your current Gmail Inbox too, I will recommend to make a dedicated account for only backup purposes, to avoid mixing up with your regular mails. A good idea is to add a suffix ‘b0, b1, b2…..bn’ and so on after your current E-mail address and make accounts as you need them. Now go get your life boats ready, and start backing up!
Here is a video guide which will show you how it works
