Dell Plans For Cheaper Notebooks For Developing Countries.

Asustek’s Eee PC’s great success has made the companies related to Computers (such as Dell here) to concern much about the price and size of their products. Dell, in the first stage of its move towards low-priced notebooks, focuses on the developing Asian countries. The company has to come up with low-cost products to offer for developing Asian countries. Details of which have not yet unveiled but right now we have the statements of Dell’s president for the Asia-Pacific region, Mr. Steve Felice says:
We have been pretty much a leader in the mid and high-end price bands. We have not played as strongly in the lower price bands.
By looking at the above statement, I think that he wants to take his company through the “Asustek” way, though he didn’t said it clearly but ‘diplomatically’.
He further intends to create some ‘thrill’ and aims to gain attention for Dell’s upcoming products by carving words as,
Let me just say that we’ve got some great things in our R&D labs and we’re coming out with some really exciting products. I’m just going to tell people to just watch and look. I think they’ll be impressed with what Dell has to come out with over this coming year.
Lastly, he puts himself somewhat ‘down-to-earth’ regarding the company’s upcoming notebook,
In the scheme of the total share of all notebooks, I think it’s still going to remain in its relative position, let’s say. I don’t think it’s going to dominate.
Speaking straight forwardly and in my opinion, Increasing demand of low-priced notebooks in developing countries and then the success story of the low-cost Eee PC has paved the way of all the ‘ups and downs’ from Dell, which for the first time (as much as I remember) has turned towards producing low-priced products.
