A Blu-Ray Player for $17000! Does it Make Any Sense? Have Your Say…

After thinking for some time to justify the $17000 worth of a Blu-ray Player, I couldn’t find any reason that makes sense. That much money is enough for a person to buy a ‘not-so-luxurious’ car. But I also know that, that much worth for a Blu-ray player from the Swiss company Goldmund is not a strange one since the name of Goldmund is very much ’synonym’ to senseless overpricing of products.

Now come to some details of the player to know what we have for $17000. The player Eidos 20 BD has been equipped with a ’special’ power supply circuit “AC Curator” to give AV stability, an arrangement named as “Mechanical Grounding” to remove vibrations and hence prevent the videos from getting blurred, and Goldmund’s very own “Magnetic Damper” to eliminate reading errors and further improve the overall performance of the player also this one is said to be included only in ‘high-end’ Goldmund products.

I think I am not the one impressed by these features in such a way that I forget the amount it takes to buy the player. If you are the one, then you are no doubt an AV ‘purist’.

What do you think is Goldmund just in pricing its products or not? Have your say.
