Internet is an ocean of information, where one can access various resources like images, news, Information and communicate with anyone from any corner of the globe. Internet has become such an integral part of our life. It’s really hard to imagine a life without Internet. As the craze of internet is on the rise, there is a risk of many people getting addicted to the internet. Doctors warn it as Addiction Disorder, a kind of mental disorder; which forces or urges a person to use internet continuously. According to Elias Aboujaoude, director of the impulse control disorder clinic at Stanford , Anything from endless chatting, blogging, gaming , to checking e-mails every few hours can amount to Internet addiction. The Stanford Institute for the Quantitative Study of Society (SIQSS) states that singles and young people are likely to get obsessed with the internet and that an hour spent online reduces face time with family members by nearly 24 minutes and sleep time by 12 minutes. According to Dr. Sathyaraj(psychologist) who says that excessive browsing can lead to over dependency on the internet which paves the way to some serious psychological and mental problems like Stress, depression, loneliness and irritability and moreover it can damage self-confidence, disrupt biological clock and appetite.

Some Well known tips to beat addiction

  • Manage your routine in a such way that you spend only a limited hours online
  • Do something interesting when you feel the urge to access the internet
  • Play some outdoor games, Increase your social activities(not online), which can surely help
  • If you still cant control, try for some individual counseling.
