The killer keyboard concept.

Who wants a typewriter to type nowadays? Nobody except some old office clerks. Today we have a keyboard by which you can type from your lap{That’s why laptops exist :)}. Everybody wants flexibility and change in their life and wants to see something new and changed every morning they wake-up. The artlebedev studio came up with an interesting keyboard idea named Maximus. And now they are here with another concept, Tactus.

Optimus Tactus is a brainchild of artlebedev’s guys and if released, will have the following features:

  • This “key“board will not have any key. Weird huh? Instead of physical keys, it will work with touch-sensitive technology.
  • One can replace any key with another, for example, if you ever wanted the space bar in place of enter key and vice versa, then now you can do that!
  • When you would get bored with typing, you could turn Tactus in a video mode. In this mode, it looks like to me that an iPhone is integrated horizontally with it.

At last, I think this will come in a price range by which one could buy a whole PC! Its basically for those rich geeks who wanna buy every hot and buzzed gadget out there.

Look at this:

http://www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch.com/

And this:

http://tinyurl.com/16gu

Which one is easy to remember? {I know some of you might also say the first option :P}

You will not choose the first one because you:

  • Can’t tell others the address of a website
  • You can’t remember this {Unless you are a Π champion}
  • In most of the cases, long Urls are not search engine friendly
  • You are not in a mood to break their record :D {They are claiming to have the longest URL in the world!}

OK enough talk and lets come to the point.

If you like to make URLs as short as you can, then do this from now with a few clicks and use tinyurl add-on for Firefox, because with this add-on, you don’t have to goto their homepage to convert long URL’s in short. You can add this feature in the right click menu of Firefox. By this add-on, you can not only create memorable URL’s, but can also visit later those Urls you have created.

Follow the steps below to know how to use this useful extension.

1-First of all, goto download page and then download the TinyUrl extension.

2-Click on the link or, if not clickable, select a link then right click and choose

“CreateTinyUrl for this Page”

longest-url.png

3-A dialog box appears like this

4-Save the Url

5-Then Goto Tools–>TinyUrl Creator–>View Saved to view your saved Urls

6-Your saved Urls will be there to Copy,Edit or Remove

saved urls

7-Done!

Hope that now you will use TinyUrl for all your “Url Compressing” needs and never complain again that why somebody gave you that long Url over IM because you know the solution for it. Right? :)

Charge your device(s) only six times in a whole year.

December 27th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Gadgets

Nowadays, almost everyone has a cell phone, a laptop or an iPod. The usefulness of these devices are known to everyone and that’s why they are so much common but what troubles the users most of the time is the charge remaining time of the battery to make these devices to operate, and this problem gets more attention when the user lacks frequent charging when in travel for instance, unless he has other means of mobile charging.

But what if there is a way to retain battery charge for 10x times than earlier? Would it be not a big WOW? Researchers have find a way for it. For example, an ordinary mobile phone that now operates 6 days in stand-by mode when fully charged, would be able to operate for 60 days, that’s exactly multiplied by 10 times! Laptops, iPods and battery operated devices would also be able to benefit us this way.

The modification that has been done with the battery is of it’s anode, which was of Carbon and has been replaced with Silicon nanowires due to it’s ability to retain much more Lithium. To put it simpler, the more the Lithium is stored in battery’s anode, the better will the battery perform.

Could you think of having a stand-by time of two months for your device before reading this post? Now it is going to get materialize soon and these batteries are expected to be manufactured in 2008.
