November 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Others

You’ve surely seen someone’s profile on your favorite social network with a weird, stylish name which include special characters like this ▂▅▇♫•Kε$ђä√•♫▇▅▂ and chances are that you also want to style your name with these type of fancy symbols too. Now with this character codes list which I am listing here, you can use these symbols anywhere you want. This is what we called ASCII [Which one can easily found on cracks *.nfo files ;D]

Here is a short “how-to” on placing these symbols.
1-Make sure that num-lock is open [First out of three tiny bulbs on your keyboard :D]
2-Press Left alt key and the desired code simultaneously to get a special character.

Example:
Try this on your address bar.
Press left-alt and 11 at the same time [press 11 from numlock and not from numeral keys on the main pad]. Hey! What you got? A male sign? Means it works!.

And now the list begins!:

Is YouTube causing Internet’s ‘SHIP’ to sink?

November 24th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in General, Tech News

Yes, this ’ship’ is likely to get sinked if nothing will be done soon from the backbone providers side. A research conducted by Nemertes Group have named YouTube this sinking’s would-be responsible, since the video sharing website is continuously popularizing among its users and as a result tons of GBs of videos are uploaded on this site in a single day.

There are also other video sharing websites like Metacafe.com and Dailymotion.com and some others, but by indicating YouTube’s name particularly, we have been given an alarming signal as we also know how many of us would like to go to websites other than YouTube for our video needs.

What should be done?

The research group has said that backbone providers will have to invest up to $137 billion by 2010 to keep up with the exponentially increasing demand otherwise the online data and especially videos which are to be be added in the coming three years will overwhelm the web.
Note that 1.1 billion GB of data have been created by the users this year till now!!!

Opera Mobile gets what it deserves.

November 23rd, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Gadgets, Tech News

Opera’s innovative steps towards redefining mobile phone browsing experience has led it to another opportunity to be a most discussed software-related company these days (earlier it was Opera Mini 4 which gained much fame and now it’s Opera Mobile).

Opera Mobile’s lead over Opera Mini and Skweezer made it the winner of the award in the Smartphone browser category, while another award from PC magazine was also awarded to Opera Mobile for it’s win over ThunderHawk and for another time Opera Mini in the internet browsers and web utilities category for Pocket PC’s.

Opera’s winning of both of these awards reflects that it very much dominates both of the platforms, and I think what Opera has not able to achieve in desktop PC browser competition, has achieved in Mobile stuffs like Smartphone and pocket PC browser competition, since mobile giants like Sony Ericsson, Motorola, HTC etc. now are preferring Opera Mobile over any other browser.
The reason why Opera Mobile has been able to has an edge over it’s competitors is it’s features which others lack, and that are what make Opera Mobile a preferable option for users. These are:
1- Intelligent zoom
2- Tabbed browsing for Pocket PC’s
3- Dual viewing modes
4- Page rendering capabilities
5- Flash support

November 22nd, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Softwares, Tips & Tricks

They say “Time is Money” and they say it Cent/Cent right. For every work or plan, we need a good amount of time. And if we waste our time on the net like Social networking[ya its good, but you know excess of everything is bad], useless chatting[do chat, but be productive like mee :)] and some other things, we can’t work. That’s why some governments have banned orkut because then companies employees will work fully and they will not spend time on writing scraps, testimonials etc. But if you are smart enough then you wouldn’t need someone to ban your activities but you can monitor all your online activities yourself through this tool and can minimize time wasting and maximizing productivity!

“Rescue Time” is a time management software which monitors your online activities and inform you that where you’ve put your time. They’ll give you an account[After filling the form and verifying your account by clicking on the link they will mail to you]so you can watch your activities data privately. Follow this 4 step blueprint:

2-Download their software
3-Install it[In less than two-minutes!]
4-Start managing your time! :)

I’ve started using it a few days ago and truly I love it!

Amazon’s Kindle:A threat to paper books?

November 20th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Gadgets, Tech News

Although the paper feeling for reading books has it’s own charm and no ‘revolutionary’ e-book yet has managed to replace the traditional style paper reading with reading a book electronically, I fear that Amazon’s Kindle can pose some extent of threats to paper books. Because in “Kindle”:
1- Reading books is made as comfortable as reading a paper book.
2- Eye straining is not an issue as there is no back light.
3- Weight is only 300 gms.
4- Built-in memory can have upto 200 books.
5- Memory can be increased upto 4GB by using an external SD memory card.
6- Books can be bought online from Amazon.com by using Kindle’s Sprint EVDO connection, and there’s no need of having a PC for purchasing, as shopping can be done directly from Kindle.

At a price of $400, the device may be thought of as a little bit expensive one than Sony’s PRS-500 at $350, but with the features which Kindle has and others lack, I don’t think someone wise enough will prefer Sony’s over Amazon’s for just 50 bucks. The $50 extra which one pays gives him features which is more worthy than this extra amount.
